## Description

Carelist is a block theme for regional health directories, practice networks, wellness associations and pharmacies' "find a practitioner" pages. It is built for people who may be unwell, worried or in a hurry: large readable type (18px body text in Lexend), generous spacing, clear outlines, big tap targets, visible focus rings and plain language, in a soft mint and white design with Source Serif 4 headings.

Built in, no plugins needed:

* Practices and health events: one listing type with specialties, districts and services (amenities), opening hours with an "Open now" status worked out in the visitor's browser, "By appointment" and "Open 24 hours" modes, fees, photo galleries, maps that load only on a click, and structured data.
* Search and filters: specialty, district, keyword, open now, services, languages spoken, verified practices and the order, on the practices page, specialty and district pages and the "Care finder" page template (filters beside the results).
* Practice pages: key facts (address, district, phone) up front, a sticky "Appointments" card with call, website and directions buttons and the opening hours, services and access as a checklist, languages spoken as chips, fees, "How to get there", and an "Request an appointment" form (preferred date and time of day, new or registered patient).
* An emergency bar ("Emergency? Call 112") above the header, a "Where to go" triage section, health events with date tiles, and an accessibility statement page pattern with an "Information page" template that adds contents.
* Forms: appointment requests, contact, "List your practice" and newsletter signup, stored under Messages (and emailed if you want).
* Five heroes (find care, care you can check, open this weekend, evening and weekend care with a background video and a pause button, choose a specialty), galleries with a lightbox, about 35 patterns and six full pages.
* Light and dark schemes with a toggle, and four style variations: Night, High contrast, Warm and Clinic blue.
* Demo content: Appearance → Import demo creates nine practices, two health events, ten specialties, four districts, the pages and a menu.

## Frequently Asked Questions

#### Where do appointment requests and messages go?

They are stored under Messages in the dashboard. To also receive them by email, open Messages → Settings and add the recipients. A practice can also get its own copy: fill in "Inquiry email" on the practice. Turn requests off for a practice (for example urgent care) with the "Inquiries" switch.

#### How do I show languages spoken separately from services?

Languages are services whose slug starts with "lang-" (for example "Polish" with the slug lang-polish). Practice pages list them under "Languages spoken" and the other services under "Services and access".

#### What does "By appointment" mean on a practice?

Set the practice's opening hours mode to "By appointment" when it has no fixed opening hours. The status then says "By appointment" instead of open or closed. "Always open" shows "Open 24 hours".

#### Can the theme show only practices open at the weekend or in the evening?

Yes: the "Open this weekend" hero and the "Open in the evening" pattern use a Query Loop setting the theme adds (`"carelist":{"weekend":true}` or `{"evening":true}` in the query), worked out from each practice's opening hours.

#### Does the theme need Secure Custom Fields?

The fields (hours, fees, services, galleries) are edited with the free Secure Custom Fields plugin, which the theme offers to install. Listings already show without it.

#### How do I turn off animations or the dark scheme?

Animations follow the visitor's "reduce motion" setting. The color scheme toggle in the header switches between light and dark and remembers the choice; remove the toggle block from the header to keep one scheme.
