## Description

Driftwood is a block theme for holiday-home owners and small rental agencies: lake cabins, beach houses, surf flats, mountain chalets and B&B-style lets by the night or the week. Sand and sea colors, soft Fraunces headings, blob-shaped photos, wavy section edges and little sticker labels ("Sleeps 6", "Pets welcome") make it feel like a postcard, while the layouts stay tidy and easy to read.

What's built in, with no page builder:

* Holiday homes as a content type (the Symelo real estate foundation): nightly, weekly or monthly prices, guests, minimum stay, bedrooms, bathrooms, galleries, floor plans, features, a map, a virtual tour and a host for every home.
* Booking-first stay pages: the price, minimum stay and guests up top, a sticky "Request to book" panel (dates, guests, contact details) next to the description, house rules and "Good to know" fold-outs, the host's card and similar stays below. On phones a bar at the bottom of the screen jumps to the booking form.
* A rounded search pill (place, type, bedrooms, price per night) on the home page and the stays archive, with sort, active filter chips and pages.
* Hosts: profile pages with a monogram, a message form and the homes they look after.
* Patterns: five heroes (wavy search cover, polaroid stack, "Where to next?" destinations, a background video and "This week's escape"), guest favourites, places to go, stays by the night, how booking works, guest reviews, numbers in bubbles, the hosts' story, things to do nearby, galleries (masonry and carousel with a lightbox), video, FAQ, house rules, booking prompts, an owners' sign-up postcard, a mortgage calculator, a contact form, a newsletter postcard, footers and complete pages (home, about, contact, for owners, find a stay).
* Forms (contact, owners, newsletter, booking requests): messages are kept under Messages in the dashboard and emailed to you.
* Light and dark color schemes with a switch in the header, and four style variations: Sunset, Lagoon, Alpine (dark) and Night swim (dark).
* Gentle animations (fades, floating suns and shells, a marquee of places, count-ups) that stop when visitors prefer reduced motion.
* A demo site to import under Appearance → Import demo.

## Frequently Asked Questions

#### Do I need any plugins?

No. The theme works on its own. The free Secure Custom Fields plugin is recommended: it adds the fields for prices, galleries, floor plans and hosts to the editor (the theme offers to install it with one click).

#### Where do booking requests and messages go?

Every form submission is stored under Messages in the dashboard. Booking requests and questions about a home are emailed to the home's host (the email on their host profile), or to the address set in Properties → Settings when a home has no host. Other forms go to the recipients set under Messages → Settings, else to the site administrator's email.

#### How do I show the price per night?

Edit a home, set its price and choose "Per night" (or "Per week") in the "Price is" field. The cards, the booking panel and the search then show it as "€185 / night". Set "Minimum stay" and "Guests" for the stickers and the booking form.

#### Where do the house rules come from?

The "Before you pack" section of the stay page shows the House rules and Good to know pattern on homes priced per night or per week. Change its text in the Site Editor (Patterns → Driftwood: Guests and hosts), or edit the stay template to remove it.

#### How do I add a featured video?

In the editor's document sidebar, open Featured video and paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, or choose a video file from the media library. The stay page shows it under the description.

#### Can I turn off the animations?

Visitors who ask their device for reduced motion never see them. To remove an animation from a block, open the block's Motion panel in the editor and clear it.

#### How does dark mode work?

The sun and moon button in the header switches between the light and dark schemes and remembers the choice; without a choice the site follows the visitor's system. The Alpine and Night swim style variations are dark themselves, so the switch is hidden there.
