## Description

Kestrel is built for outdoor brands and bike, climbing and hiking shops that sell on numbers: weights, temperatures and waterproof ratings come first. Condensed uppercase headlines, spec chips, heavy 2px rules, angled corners and dark topographic bands give the store a field-tested look, in light and dark.

* **Store templates:** a technical product page (gallery with thumbnails and zoom, sticky summary with badges, highlights, add to cart, size guide, spec list, delivery and details), a catalog with filters always open on desktop and the results bar in a dark band, product search, cart, checkout, order confirmation and a mini-cart drawer with the free-shipping threshold.
* **Product extras:** badges (Limited, Eco… plus automatic New, Sale, Sold out and low stock), highlights, specifications, materials, care, product video and shared size guides that open in a dialog. They use the free Secure Custom Fields plugin, which the theme offers to install.
* **Store extras:** announcement bar, selling points, trust badges, shipping and returns, free-shipping threshold, all under Products → Store extras.

#### Do I need WooCommerce?

Yes, Kestrel is a store theme. Without WooCommerce your posts and pages still work, and the dashboard links to the WooCommerce installer.

#### Where do badges, highlights, specifications and size guides come from?

From the Product extras box on each product (with Secure Custom Fields active) and from Products → Badges and Products → Size guides. Weights and dimensions entered in WooCommerce are added to the specifications automatically. Store-wide texts (announcement bar, selling points, trust badges, shipping and returns) are under Products → Store extras.

#### Where do form messages go?

Every form submission, including repair and rental requests, is saved under Messages in the dashboard and, unless the form says otherwise, emailed to the address in Messages → Settings (the site's admin email by default). Newsletter forms only store the address.

#### How do I add a product video?

Paste a YouTube, Vimeo or video file link in Product extras → Video. YouTube and Vimeo load only when a visitor presses play.

#### How do I use the trip report layout?

Edit a post, open Template in the post settings and choose "Trip report (photo header)". Its featured image becomes the header and its headings fill the route card's table of contents.

#### Can I turn off the animations or dark mode?

Animations stop for visitors who prefer reduced motion, and the trail video pauses with its own button. Dark mode follows the visitor's system setting until they use the switch in the header; choose a style variation in Appearance → Editor → Styles to change the default (Night trail starts dark).
