Overview
A warm, personal theme for coaches, therapists and solo consultants: your story, your sessions and an easy way to book a first call.
Kindling is a calm, light block theme on cream paper with terracotta and sage. Arch-topped image frames, a handwritten signature after your About letter, hand-drawn underlines and small leaf sprigs make it feel personal, never corporate. Every page leads gently to one thing: booking a free first call (on phones, a "Book a free 20-minute call" button stays at hand).
What's built in, with no page builder and no extra plugins for the design:
- Sessions (services) with length, price, what's included, what happens and their own questions, each with a booking form that already knows which session it's about.
- Packages (pricing plans), the recommended one highlighted in sage.
- Client stories (anonymised case studies), practitioners for small practices, testimonials (first names are enough), questions grouped by topic, your session hours with "open now", and your contact details.
- 5 heroes (arch portrait, morning-light cover with a card, featured session, a letter, a testimonial on sage) and about 30 patterns: "Is this for you?" checklist, session cards, about letter with signature, how it works, three promises, credentials row, kind words, packages, gentle FAQ, journal, booking band, galleries with a lightbox, booking, contact and letter forms, footers and five full pages (home, about, sessions, book a call, workshops).
- Templates for the journal, posts, pages, sessions, client stories and practitioners, a "Book a call" page template, a wide page and a landing page.
- Forms that store messages in your dashboard (Messages) and email you; light and dark color schemes with a switch in the header; four style variations (Evening, Sage, Blush, Sand & Sea); gentle animations that respect "reduce motion".
Sessions, client stories, practitioners, testimonials, questions and packages are edited with the free Secure Custom Fields plugin (the theme offers to install it). Without it, everything still displays.
Questions
Where do form messages go?
Every message is saved under Messages in your dashboard and emailed to the address in Messages → Settings (or the site's admin email). The booking form adds the chosen session to the email subject.
How do I change where the "Book a call" buttons lead?
Go to Business → Business details and choose your contact page. All booking buttons, the sticky button on phones and the packages lead there.
How do I add my sessions and prices?
Business → Services. Give each session a short summary (the excerpt), a photo, its length and price, what's included and what happens. Mark one as featured to show it in the "Start with one session" hero.
How do I underline a word in a heading by hand?
Choose the heading style "Hand-drawn underline" and make the word(s) italic.
Can I add a video to a post?
Yes: in the post's sidebar, Featured video takes a YouTube or Vimeo link or a video file. It shows instead of the featured image and loads only after a click.
Can I turn off the animations?
They are subtle and switch off for visitors who prefer reduced motion. To remove one, delete its Motion class in the block's Advanced panel.
Is there a dark mode?
Yes. Visitors can switch with the sun/moon button in the header; it follows their system setting by default. The Evening style variation makes dark the default.
