Overview

A liquid-glass block theme for lifestyle, travel and personal bloggers: frosted glass over a drifting aurora, opal accents, light and dark schemes.

Opaline brings Apple-style Liquid Glass to your blog. Frosted, translucent surfaces float over a softly drifting aurora; a pill-shaped glass header hovers above the page and grows denser as you scroll; iridescent opal accents highlight buttons, borders and focus rings. Generous whitespace, Plus Jakarta Sans with Instrument Serif italics, and calm motion make it feel premium and personal.

Everything is built in, no plugins needed:

  • Light and dark schemes ("Midnight Opal") with a switch in the header, following the visitor's system setting until they choose.
  • Five style variations: Opal, Midnight, Sunset, Mint and Mono. Each has its own light and dark palettes.
  • Forms: contact, newsletter and collaboration-request forms. Messages are stored under Messages in the dashboard and, if you like, emailed to you. Spam protection is built in.
  • Galleries: Masonry and Carousel gallery styles and a slideshow lightbox with captions, swipe and keyboard support.
  • Video: a featured video for every post (YouTube, Vimeo or a video file) with click-to-load embeds and play badges on thumbnails, plus a background-video hero.
  • Gentle motion: reveal-on-scroll, staggered grids, count-up numbers, floating chips and a scrolling logo row. All of it switches off for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
  • Reading tools: reading progress bar, table of contents, share links, reading time, author card and related stories.
  • 39 patterns in the inserter (plus template helpers): six heroes (glass over the aurora, photo with a glass caption, split with floating stats, background video, latest story, personal intro), a bento grid, a stories rail, post grids and lists, posts by topic, galleries, video sections, forms, calls to action, testimonials, FAQ, about, stats, logos, social and footers, plus complete About, Contact, Gallery, Videos, Landing and Link in bio pages.
  • Templates: blog home, single post, page, archive, search, 404, and the custom templates Landing page, Link in bio (no header or footer) and Wide post (full-bleed featured image).

Opaline is accessible (AA contrast on every surface and scheme, visible focus, keyboard support, reduced motion), fast (no external requests, bundled fonts, small deferred scripts) and translation ready.

Questions

Where do form messages go?

Every message sent through a form is saved under Messages in the dashboard. By default the contact and collaboration forms also email the site administrator; the newsletter forms only store the address. To send messages to another address, open Messages → Settings, or select the form block in the editor and fill in "Email to".

How do I add a featured video to a post?

Open the post in the editor and find the Featured video panel in the post sidebar. Paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, or choose a video file. The video replaces the featured image at the top of the post, and thumbnails of the post show a play badge.

How do I change or turn off the animations?

Select a block and open the Motion panel in the block sidebar to choose a different effect or none. Visitors whose device asks for reduced motion never see the animations, and the background video can be paused.

How does dark mode work?

The theme follows the visitor's system setting until they use the sun/moon switch in the header; their choice is remembered. The Midnight style variation starts in dark mode. Each style variation (Site Editor → Styles) brings its own dark palette.

How do I use the Link in bio page?

Create a page, choose the "Link in bio" template in the page settings and insert the "Link in bio" pattern. Then replace the links and the photo.
