## Description

Wayfare is a block theme for destination guides, regional tourism sites and travel writers who list sights, tours, events and places to stay. Big landscape photos and generous white space set the tone; postage stamps, postcards and luggage tags give it its travel-magazine character.

* **Experiences:** a listing type with themes (museums, beaches, hikes, food tours…), regions and "Good to know" notes (family friendly, step-free, free entry), shown as tickets with a perforated edge and a price stub.
* **Search and filters:** search by keyword, theme and region, plus price, "open now", verified and sorting.
* **Single experiences:** a photo mosaic with lightbox, opening times with a live "open now" status, prices, a prominent map with "Get directions", contact buttons and an inquiry or booking form.
* **Region pages:** a wide banner with the region's photo and its sub-regions as chips, then every experience in it.
* **Itineraries:** a "Three days in the region" hero and an itinerary pattern that lists experiences as numbered stops on a dotted route.
* **Events:** a "This month" strip of upcoming events with calendar tiles.
* **Heroes:** a landscape with a luggage-tag search, a postcard stack, a three-day route, a background video (with a pause button), a featured experience and a region bento.
* **Built in, no plugins needed:** contact, newsletter and trip request forms (messages are stored under Messages in the dashboard), photo galleries (masonry and carousel) with a lightbox, featured video, scroll rails, entrance animations that respect reduced motion, and a light/dark color scheme switch.
* **Style variations:** Night train (dark), Alpine, Riviera and Desert.

Secure Custom Fields (free, from WordPress.org) is the editing interface for opening hours, prices, galleries and the other experience details; the theme shows a notice with a one-click install. Experiences display without it.

## Frequently Asked Questions

#### Where do form messages go?

Every form submission is stored under Messages in the dashboard. Messages → Settings sets who receives an email copy; it defaults to the site's admin email. Inquiries about an experience also go to the experience's own inquiry email when it has one.

#### How do I add an experience?

Experiences → Add New. Give it a cover (featured image), a theme and a region, then fill in the details tabs: hours, prices, location (latitude and longitude for the map), contact and photos. Choose the type "Event" for festivals and markets, "Stay" for guesthouses.

#### How do I import the demo content?

Appearance → Import demo imports the Saltmere Coast guide: 12 experiences, themes, regions, the pages and a menu.

#### Can I add a featured video?

Yes. In the editor's sidebar, the Featured video panel takes a YouTube or Vimeo link or a video file. It plays where the template shows the featured video and falls back to the featured image.

#### How do I turn off the animations?

Animations are added with motion classes on blocks (Advanced → Additional CSS classes or the Motion panel); remove them there. Visitors who ask their system for reduced motion see no animations.

#### How does dark mode work?

The sun/moon button in the header switches between the light palette and the dark "Night train" palette and remembers the choice; by default the visitor's system setting decides. With the Night train style variation the site stays dark.
