An expedition-atlas block theme for slow-travel and hiking blogs: contour lines, postcards with stamp edges, full-bleed covers and day-by-day routes.

== Description ==

Farwander is a travel blog theme that looks like a well-used atlas: sand paper and deep teal, topographic contour lines behind the sections, postcards with perforated stamp edges and postmarks, and full-bleed photo covers. It is made for slow-travel and hiking bloggers, digital nomads and anyone who writes itineraries people actually follow.

Built in, with no plugins needed:

* Trip itineraries: the route drawn as a dashed line with map pins and a card per day, trip facts on luggage tags, and a map that loads from OpenStreetMap only when the visitor asks for it.
* Post extras from the blog foundation: subtitles, header layouts (cover by default, standard, split, minimal), series shown as "Journeys" with progress, photo stories (carousel, stack or masonry), key takeaways, disclosures for sponsored or gifted trips, related picks, recipes and an author profile.
* A "save for later" reading list in the header, and filters for the journal (keywords, destination, journey, kind of post).
* Home page sections: a video cover with a destination search, a postcard stack of the latest trips, the latest itinerary as a cover, the route day by day, the logbook in numbers, destinations as postcards, journeys, field notes, galleries and trip films.
* Forms: contact, a newsletter postcard with an airmail edge and a trip-planning request. Messages are stored under Messages in the dashboard and can be emailed to you.
* Galleries with Masonry and Carousel styles and a lightbox, video covers, scroll animations that respect reduced motion, and a light/dark switch with the "Night train" scheme.
* Four style variations: Glacier, Desert, Fjord and Night train (dark).

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I add an itinerary to a post? =

Open the post's "Post details" panel (it needs the free Secure Custom Fields plugin; the theme offers to install it), switch on the trip on the Trip tab and add the days and their places. Places with coordinates appear on the map. The route, the luggage tags and the map show up under the post automatically.

= Where do form messages go? =

Every message is stored under Messages in the dashboard. Email notifications go to the address in Messages → Settings, or to the site's admin email when that is empty. Each form block can also have its own recipients.

= How do I set a featured video? =

Use the Featured video panel in the post sidebar: paste a YouTube or Vimeo link or choose a video file. The poster is the featured image.

= Can I turn off the animations? =

Visitors who ask their system for reduced motion see no animations. You can remove the motion classes from any block in the editor's Motion panel.

= How does dark mode work? =

The switch in the header changes between the light palette and "Night train" and remembers the choice; without a choice the site follows the visitor's system setting. Each style variation has its own matching dark palette.
